Bought a cat C car, need help

I bought my car 2 months ago and I didn't have time to shop around as I needed it for work purpose, the owner informed me that the owner before him had had an accident and the insurers deemed it a write off however the person had it repaired and since then its been on the road for years without any problems so I bought it.

Come insurance time, I insured it with co-op who are requesting an account of the repair work done (engineer's report), seems like a formality really as they want to confirm its roadworthy. The previous owner has no such report. Now I've been trying to find an independent engineer who will do the report for a reasonable amount but its boiled down to RAC's essential plus or AA's comprehensive inspection both of which will charge me £200.

Before I get the inspection however, I thought it necessary to get some work done on its suspension because the suspension isn't great and although it has an MOT till nov 13' I will get it mot'd incase there is any issue that needs addressing as I dont want to dish out for the inspection only to be given a bad report. The garage will charge me £400 for the work involved.

I'm really looking for advice from someone whose been in the same predicament and if theres anything I need to watch out for before getting the inspection that might deem it unroadworthy?
Currently, it has suspension problems which are being fixed, the parcel shelf has a hold up string missing which I've ordered and the passenger side lock sometimes doesn't function (central locking). Another issue is the engine check light being on which I've been told is due to a faulty fuel injector that I might get repaired before the inspection. The car itself drives really well, smoothly and I've had no problems since I've bought it.

Thanks

engineers wont care about parcel shelves, central locking etc
I would ask the Co Op to confirm exactly what they want from the report and who they are happy to do it
eg would an MOT station be enough and what do they want beyond a standard MOT

Faulty inspection, faulty injector and body work damage. Hope you didn't pay too much. The injector won't be a cheapy job.

I would move to a different insurance company. Eg admiral.

Got to be cheaper than spending £200 on an engineering report and saga continues.
Some insurance companies don't mind about cat c as long as passed an mot.

Dunno if the engine light is an mot failure.
