Childrens car seat laws.

I am trying to work out if my 9 year old still needs a booster seat in the car.

He is 136cms, which means that if THIS link http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/law/#kids1213 is correct, he no longer needs a car seat.
However, THIS link https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules/using-a-child-car-seat-or-booster-seat talks about weight instead of height.

Does anyone know the actual law?

It goes by height at that age. He may find that he's more comfortable still using a seat for a while though, my daughter is 139cm and still uses her booster seat otherwise the seatbelt sits too high on her neck and irritates her.

The weight bit you are talking about is referring to what car seat to use in relation to the child's weight.
