Because of the recession less people are buying free range eggs but what happens to the surplus? Well many are sold as value colony eggs. Bear in mind that if more people start buying 'caged hen eggs' for the purpose of the fact it has free range eggs in, the supermarkets don't know this and will likely think that sales of caged hen eggs are going up and thus they will order more and more 'real' caged hen eggs...
