Help! I Think I've been getting my 2 rate readings mixed up!

Hi everyone,

I am with British Gas, and enter my meter readings online,
I have a 2rate meter but only a single display.

It's always on 2 and I'm sure I read that 2 is the day and 1 is night, but I've just had another look online and it's the other way round?

So which is day and which is night?

If I've been getting them mixed, is there anything I can do to get money back?

Hi, they can vary between 1 and 2 or even 4 for the night rate on some meters. If you always check it in the daytime it may be a meter which defaults to show the current rate. Check in the early morning to see if 1 is showing.. approx switch over times also vary between 12 am and 8 .30 am

Write down your reads at let's say 2pm on a given day, then put some power on , turn the tv on , lights etc, then have a look and see which one of your reads has moved, this should be your day read, if your provider has it the other way round then your reads are transposed and they'll have to rebill you.
