You would be expected to get a minimum of 8 points from the PIP mobility section to qualify for a BB.
8 points of more - up to 11 points will give you the standard rate for PIP and 12 or more points will give the enhanced rate which was previously known as the Higher Rate for Mobility in DLA.

For PIP its much the same with and without further assessment as DLA entitlement, as and when each BB expires those without automatic entitlement will need to demonstrate eligibility under the 'subject to further assessment' criterion in #3. Which 'tests' any LA use is their own choice as it remains the responsibility of local authorities to determine their own local assessment procedures. Most however will be using the same set of core principles of Blue Badge mobility assessments laid out by central UK GOV. There's an eligibility checker here. The BB is a 'devolved' issue, the taffs & jocks will need to look to their own governments.
 - manner of walking
 - underlying medical conditions and impact on walking
 - excessive pain
 - breathlessness
 - walking speed and distance
 - use of walking aids
 - decision-making
LA's would usually check that you continue to demonstrate eligibility under the 'subject to further assessment' criterion in #3. They would check their own local authority records to see how ypu were assessed previously, and to whether the assessor recommended that you need to be re-assessed upon renewal. Re-assessing applicants with conditions that may have improved since they last applied for a Blue Badge uses the same procedure as for new Blue Badge applicants under the 'subject to further assessment' criterion.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I had my assessment last week, I was wary of applying but had severe joint issues from age of 13 (33 now) had 8 operations to wrist alone, finalising in it being fused and now got spine degradation amongst auto immune issues so walking is painful and rely on my hubby dropping me to work.. i was worried as i assumed it was not for those working (ive always worked and very very fortunate that I have support at work so that i can)and the assessor was lovely....its basically a lot of questions, she/he will assess your walking and make an assumption in conjunction with medical evidence where needed. I heard the week after i was successful and badge is on its way..its going to make a huge difference to my life and its really what its for.. although i get the impression a lot abuse it..just be honest :)x
ps forgot to add i claim nothing i just have full medical history from severeal specailists from bone specialists, rheumatologists, pain clinics, physios etc so that probably helped. excuse typing im one handed atm xCompetition Wins 2017: Humans Boxset : £25 Cheque, Lego Batman Goodies0
