Late Payment Charges

Hi, I have recently been charged a £12 late payment by my Tesco credit card. I deliberately didn't meet my last payment as I had made several credits to my account from an online bingo site. Why would I therefore receive a late payment charge? I have made over £30 worth of credits over the last month. Help!!

Because the credits aren't registered by Tesco as a payment by you to your account?0

The credits probably show as a refund rather than a payment.
I'd guess that they're also charging you a fee for gambling transactions.0 -
The reason is simple.
Imagine I spend £1000 on a CC. The statement shows a minimum of £25.
I then make a purchase for £100 and subsequently return it for a credit - £100.
Should I be allowed to avoid paying £25 to my account because the account was recently credited with £100?0 -
No, credits and refunds are not regarded as payments towards your balance.0

As others have said, and in my experience, credit card companies do not typically class refunds as payments with respect to required minimum monthly payments. Also, as others have said, gambling transactions are typically classed as '(cash) advances', which attract fees and/or interest that you might not have considered.
If in doubt, call the credit card company. In this particular instance, I think the reason for this late payment charge is the former.0 -
Give them a call and ask them why you been charged, if it's due to credits not being seen as payments. tell them you didn't know offer a payment and ask them as a GOGW to drop the charge.0
