Vanquis credit limit

in Credit cards
I dont have any bad credit but a while back, I had no credit history (almost 2 years ago now I think).
I got a Capital One secured card (which I have now closed) and a Vanquis card.
I later got a Barclaycard.
Vanquis started at £250 limit and after 3 or 4 months rose to £500 where it has stayed. Barclaycard started at £3000 and rose a few times to its current £7500 limit.
Vanquis have never increased my limit again though. I use the card every month (I usually pay all of my car parking fees on it) and pay it off in full.
Is this normal for them? Do they accept requests for increased limits?
I only really keep it open as it is one of the oldest credit accounts I have but £500 is not much use to me as I like to use my cards for S75 cover.
I basically live off my Barclaycard and clear it each month so that its always in use.

I would suggest closing vanquis as it's more a sub prime card that usually has a max limit of 1000 they don't usually give more than that to anyone0

I have £1500 with vanquis.
I have a default on my record which comes off on 18th of this month...hoping to apply for a balance transfer account then.
If vanquis is your longest running card, think twice before closing it as the 'average age of your bank accounts' is taken into account when you apply for credit.0 -
The maximum limit with Vanquis is £3,000 but sometimes people fall through the net.
I had a vanquis card for a while and despite using it regularly and mixing up paying in full with paying slightly less than full so they occasionally made some money from me the limit never increased from £250.
Doesn't matter though as it's a crap card. Just close it. It will remain on your credit file for six years from the date you settle it anyway, as a big positive of courseCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I had 3 increases I think. 250 - 1000, 1000-1750 and then 1750-22500

I started with Vanquis in July 2009' eventually they gave me the maximum £3000 limit. Never ever used that limit:eek: Makes me sweat thinking of the interest!
I asked them to drop it to just £1000, but a few month's later they put it up to £1750!
Last week received my replacement Gold card, but its no longer Gold,a dark swirly colour with just GOLD on and no Vanquis logo..
I know it helped me get mainstream cards like the Halifax Clarity and an HSBC Credit card.......
So debating whether to close it but it is over 4 year's of history, unless they ask me to close it as It has a zero balance?0 -

I dont think theres any need to just close it. A card is card at the end of the day. I use it, I pay in full by DD. I have no need to communicate directly with their poor customer services team. I just wanted a higher limit that more accurately reflects my credit rating, income and is in line with other limits I have0
