Travelling on ryanair - how to package pram?

So a simple query really!
We fly with a budget airline to the sun next week - with a little one - 1 and a half.
How do we package a pram so it can be preserved on the flight without getting dirty etc? Is it just a case of lots of packaging?
Or using one of those cling film companies to wrap it up?
Or buying a case for it?
As far as I understand we go to the steps of the plane where it disappears, and we get it back at the other end.
If that's the case, I guess a simple bag to protect it from bumps might be in order?
Any wisdom/light appreciated as I'm unsure!
Thanks

I may be wrong, but i think to the steps of the plane applies to collapsible, light weight buggies.0

That's what you get for being male (Forgetting crucial info!)
It's a lightweight pram, e.g. http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_122442_10001
Would that go on with us?Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

Not got kids myself, but I travel a lot. I have never seen folks putting a buggy in any sort of bag at the steps, they just fold it and its put in the hold like that. Thats what baggage handlers do all day every day. I really think you are creating a problem that doesn't exist.

In the past, I have used large clear plastic bags and a bit of tape. Bagged it up before the baggage handlers taking it off me. I would usually leave Mrs AO to take the children on-board whilst I sort it.
Anyhow, aircraft holds are not really that dirty. Its the baggage belts that a not clean.0 -
Thank you for your advice, esp olias and alias (you're not related are you!?)
I'll pitch up and see how it goes.

hi we have just come back from our hols with a 2 year old and 4 ,,,we just tied ours up but we bought a second hand one so wasnt to fussed about getting it scatched etc....but i no you can buy special holdhaul bags for them, you can take it right up to the aircraft when you board the plane, then they tell you to leave it out side the plane near steps and crew take it off you, then we you arrive at your destination they take all the prams/buggys off and put them near the steps again, which is easier then it comming through on a carolsel??
hope this helps :beer:0 -

Make sure you are off the plane smartish. Our grandson's buggy was stolen from the tarmac and an old tatty buggy left in it's place. We had to buy him a new one.0
