I thought it would be a good idea to keep a diary on how my transfer to N Power goes and keep it updated as times goes on.

Not much to report at moment only to advise my cooling off period finished yesterday. Now waiting for the next stage to kick in.

    Very good idea.
Make sure it includes the readings used at key points as well, particularly the closing/opening reads and subsequent ones.
If you enter them online, take screen prints of the verification that they have been entered. Don't rely on being able to view them later.
If you're on a monthly DD payment, bear in mind you should be in credit after the summer, so that you will cover using more than the monthly payment covers in the winter.

Thanks for input and will bear in mind of what you have said. I have gone for the Feb 2015 fix and have selected the variable qtr direct debit. Fed up with monthly direct debits and feel by paying by the qtr I can keep a closer eye on things.

Also i will continue to put the monthly amounts away in my savings accounts so it will not be a shock when the bill arrives online.

Well it is now the 22 August and have not heard anything until this pm.
I received an email advising me they were sorry I had cancelled with them and to ignore any further letters. However I had not cancelled!

I rang there customer service and they advised the transfer was still on course for my my electricity to be switched over on the 30 August and the Gas on the 6 September.

The advisor could not understand why I received an email confirming my cancellation.

Will see what happens in the next few weeks.

Aren't you supposed to start an entry with "dear diary, today I..."?
