I don't think you can prove 'looking for work' at the moment.....I recently had to apply for JSA due to working hours dropping below 16 a week.....I never recieved any payment but did attend the JC 3 times..... I had to take 16 steps a week to 'look for work'......via Universal job match ( had to set up a account on there) and other websites, plus a local paper, checking the websites had to be done everyday, I did apply for jobs too, this can be checked by JC as you will of noted the name of company and position applied for on your 2wkly log.
I was also told that things will be changing in the forseeable future, whereby your job search will be checked via universal job match and not by the 2wkly log......as the person who I saw said,.....'' we know a large amount of people just put anything down and we haven't got the time/resources to check eveyone''

    What technicality is that ?

Why isn't applying for jobs looking for work ?

How do you prove "looking for work" as opposed to proving "applying for jobs".

Applying for jobs is the main proof of looking for work.

You shouldn't believe everything people tell you.
Under the technicality that looking for work and applying for jobs aren't the same thing.

Don't talk to me like i'm an idiot when you can't understand that LOOK and APPLY are different words with clearly understandable differences. Good job you're not a contract lawyer. The wording means EVERYTHING.

And it's not a case of 'believing everything people tell me', i got an official warning letter through, i think that's cause enough to 'believe' them as they're the ones controlling whether you get paid or not.

I can sit back and have people down the pub tell me X Y and Z are looking for employees. I send a letter off to them. Have i LOOKED for work? No.

It's a stupid rule but it is the rule. Some advisers are very strict about it and some don't care.

Sorry but i don't understand any of that.

Productive steps is all about what youneed to do to get work, ie retails work, no point handing C.V. in to ASDA newlook etc, they recruit online, some will take your C.V.smile nicely and it will go in the bin, small shaops yes hand in C.V. Warehouse work register with agencies as this is where you will find the work, builders and this industry phone round, visit sights.

    Steps that will secure work.

If you have admin and accounts, you could also do customer service, reception all about transferable skills.

This is what an adviser should be looking at when you take in details of jobsearch.

Depends who's looked at it pal - under the Tories the benefits system has changed to try to catch people out.

I hope for you it gets accepted and you get your dosh, but i'm sceptical at best.
