In my opinion Metrobank opening branches around the UK is no bad thing and may put the wind up the big four.Yes I have two accounts with Barclays and a basic account with Halifax but when my local branch of Metrobank opens I will pop in to see what they have to offer and maybe open an account and close the Halifax one.

As coldiron has already suggested, you must get into the habit of referring to them as stores rather than branches.
Might be worth reading the existing Metrobank thread to get some real experience into it. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/28577680 -
Hi,As I have said when my local branch opens I will pop in to have a chat and see what is on offer before I make a decision. The extended hours are a bonus to me being self employed and need to deposit cash seven days would be handy. As for being dog friendly with dog treats and water all well and good but I can take my mutt into my local Barclays and the staff all know her and give her biscuits anyway. Why must I stop referring to them as a bank and call them a store?Yes they sell products but so do other Banks whenever they get a chance.Being a new kid on the block I may be prepared to give them a chance after talking to them.

.Why must I stop referring to them as a bank and call them a store?.
Stores is what Metrobank call them. Their website has a store finder, not a branch finder:

Must say, their personal loans are very competitive and their credit card
is pretty good too. Yet is hardly ever mentioned on any of the money comparison sites. (Probably not paying enough for their endorsement)
Might consider opening an account with them in January 2015 after I've finished using HSBC.0 -
Hi.See your point and well spotted. But they do call themselves Metrobank after all.:D0

Nobody said they aren't a bank (because they are one). The comments were about what they call their presence in the high streets.0

There's a far simpler explanation: you can't apply for either online, unlike virtually every other loan and credit card going.urs sinserly,

That's quite close to the Kingston branch which is being built at the moment then!0
