Faulty microwave

My daughter purchased a microwave from our local asda store on 21st July 2013. My daughter then went away on 25th July and her other half used the microwave but the second time he used it it stopped working. They only moved into their home 20th July and have misplaced the receipt although they do have the box it came in. How does she fair in respect to a refund or replacement?
Thanks in advance

Needs proof of purchase otherwise probably tough.0

Proof of purchase does not have to be a receipt though. Did she pay on card and was it the only thing purchased? If so a bank statement will do.0

It is asdas brand and there is a small sticker near the barcode with 06/02/13 would this be the manufactured date, therefore meaning it was purchased at asda sometime since February 2013?
It was purchased using a debit card but other items where purchased at the same time0 -
Unfortunately that doesn't mean it was purchased from Asda at all.It is asdas brand and there is a small sticker near the barcode with 06/02/13 would this be the manufactured date, therefore meaning it was purchased at asda sometime since February 2013?
Whilst it is very likely that it was purchased from Asda some time after 6 Feb, things have been known to to 'appear elsewhere' without being legitimately purchased.
It won't matter much that other things were bought at the same time. Take along the bank statement showing the payment which includes the microwave and Asda should be able to confirm the purchase. It was purchased using a debit card but other items where purchased at the same time0 -
Thanks for the replies, so she just needs to take microwave in box with bank statement showing transaction.?0
