Selling car to a dealer
Hi.
I am taking my car to an Evans Halshaw dealer tomorrow for valuation and possible sell. Has anyone sold their car this way, what things shall I expect?
My car has outstanding finance on it , would that be a problem?
I know I can probably get more for it by selling privately, but I would like to sell ASAP and may be difficult to find a buyer if they know car is outstanding finance.
It is a 58 plate 2009 ford fiesta Zetec 1.4 with only 14,000 miles on it. I checked some valuation websites Who are giving a trade price of £5600-5700, is this what I shall expect?
Thanks

You'll be lucky for them to offer five.0

Trade prices can (but not always) be a good guideline for trading in as as much as anything they are trying to encourage the sale. But selling outright you will expect to take a big hit on price. They will want to sell it on and make a decent profit as with all their other cars, so won't be out to do you any favors i'm afraid.
If they offer a dismal price, look at completed eBay auctions to see what they are fetching there. Then consider the fees and decide if it could be an idea for you.0 -
A quick check of Autotrader for similar cars suggest both private sales and trade are looking for around 5500 to 6000 for similar cars. The dealership will be looking to make a healthy profit so will probably only offer you 3500 to 4000 especially since they probably don't want/need the stock.0
