Smart Parking and Debt Recovery

Hi
I recently received a parking ticket from Smart Parking but after doing some reading around on here it seems like most people are saying just to ignore the ticket which I did. Yesterday I received a letter from debt recovery saying that I now owe £110. This is the first bit of corrrespondance I have received since the ticket was issued. Is this letter to be ignored or should I start to panic? It says if I don't pay by a certain date they will be contacting the Solicitors... but I am considering just ignoring this still. Any advice is much appreciated?
Thanks
James

Sigh !!!! Firstly the ignore advice is old, out of date and isn't on the first 70 pages of this forum ( except for very specific circumstances ) !
Your options are dependent on if you were also the driver as well as the RK ( assuming it was in England or Scotland ).
If you weren't the driver then write back giving the drivers details and it resets the clock and will allow the driver to appeal and go to POPLA ( as Not-Smart Parking will reject the appeal ).
If you were the driver then continue to ignore ( but ONLY because you've already ignored ) unless you get valid court papers - then come back here but Smart aren't known to go to court.
You should also complain to the retailer you used when you got the PCN - Asda by chance ?0 -
But this is smart parking and to date they have never done court, I would ignore debt recovery plus and zenith when they write next, they are in fact the same companyWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Thanks for the quick responses. I was the driver and I was technically at fault but I shall continue to ignore and hope that nothing comes of it.
Thanks again0 -
I am in the same situation as I have followed the ignore route after what I had read previously. Recently had the letter from Debt Recovery asking for £120 by mid August or Court action would be advised. I no longer own the car now as I traded it in since the parking fine was incurred although I don't suppose that would make any difference to Smart Parking even if I told them. Looks as though my only option now is also to wait and see. Good luck anyway and let's hope they just go away!0

Hi I am also on Smart Parking's wanted list, I choose to ignore all correspondence received for my wife over staying the allowed time on a visit to an Asda store in Yorkshire (not aware of parking rules) earlier this year, I have received 3 letters from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd. demanding payment or face possible court action with the last letter reducing the charge by £20+ if I settle now, which I won't and from threads on here I would be surprised if it went further.
Hovite, for understanding why is the Ignore stance not the current tactic to embark on and if they did take me to court what potentially could they claim, is it just the charge + solicitors fee + court fee? thanks for your input0 -
Please don't hijack other people's threads, we try and keep it to one issue to one thread to stop confusion. I will answer your question though. The reason why ignore is the answer is in post #3 above. And once its with powerless debt collectors there is nothing to do on your part .
Now if you want further advice please create your own thread - thanks
