Do I have a case? Any help would be great

I just recently discovered I have been miss sold an account with my Bank (Barclays) About 10 years ago I wanted to increase my overdraft limit from around £200 to £700 as money was tight and was informed by the lady on the phone that I need an Additions Plus account to qualify for a larger overdraft. Since then I have been paying £16 a month (for nearly 10 years) and also have phone insurance, holiday cover, etc that I didnt even know I had never mind used. Obviously alot of the responsibility comes to my shoulders for not taking his matter up sooner and paying attention to my account, but I didnt know I HAD the insurances until a teller at the bank commented on how I've never made a claim.

As it turns out the Additions Plus account has no standing on your overdraft limit and I have been needlessly paying for it every month thinking it was mandatory.

Do I have a case to try and reclaim any of this back seeing as I didnt want/need/know I had it?

Any help would be great guys :)

    Worth a read

It was pushed in this weeks MSE email again, so worth signing up to that too if you've not done so already.

How did the teller at the bank know you've never made a claim on the attached insurance?

I claimed from barclays for the same reasons, was told I HAD to have the packaged account for an overdraft. Claimed by phone and 3 weeks later they have refunded all the fees since 04/2008 a sum of £1058.50.

Stand your ground and they should pay you. The letter I received today said that they were 'unable to substantiate your claim of mis-selling, however I have upheld your complaint'.

Thanks to this site or I would never have thought to claim!
