Loft Insulation

My OH and I recently bought our first house in May – lovely little2 bed terrace.
One thing we have found is that the loft insulation isn’treally sufficient, the loft is made up off:
I’ve heard rumours that DIY stores often have fantastic deals on insulation at various times of the year. I’m holiding out for one ofthese types of deals.
We unfortunately don’t qualify for any support from energyfirms for grants etc. I’m also wary of the green deal scheme, given that the insulationcan be done ‘DIY’ I don’t want to spend over the odds for tradesman.
Any advice or words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

- 50% non-insulated boards covering the central part of the loft for storage
- 50% foam style insulation covering either side of boarded area. ( I assume insulation rolls can be placed over the top)

Hi,
A 2 bed will easily be doable for less than £100, just measure the area.
Check how much you alreaqdy have by lifting the old insulation up where you can.
Its a really easy job, especially if its already boarded, just be carefull not to go through the ceiling (easier said than done) and wear a mask and disposable overalls as old insulation is awfull stuff.
i would be surpised if you neede more than three of these

dont go anywhere near the green deal for this, the assesment alone will cost you more than the job itself.
Its a shame they bought this rubbisg green deal in as the old system was doing so well, theres lots of insulation companies been put out of buisness very quiclky.0
