Vax - buyer beware!

I saw an item on here mentioning the Vax sale, and as we needed a new vac I bought one. Big mistake.
After using it for a few weeks the outside of the machine was covered in a layer of dust.
On contacting Vax customer support we were asked to open the dust collection chamber when it was revealed that the filter which should have been in there had never been fitted.
The call centre operative said they'd send one out - but it never came. Luckily I ordered one myself which enabled us to carry on using the machine.
When I wrote to Vax expressing my dissatisfaction, their reply contained this gem:
" We do have to rely on our customers to ensure that all parts are there before using the machine"....in other words thay can't rely on their assembly team to make sure that their products are complete before they are sent out. The letter goes on to say: "so we can't take responsibility for any motor damage caused by miss-use". So if you buy a Vax product, make sure it's all there - because if it isn't, it's your fault for not checking. Vax quality control - leave it to the customer.
