Maybe do a bit of research on eBay what your toys go for

Older lego goes for high prices on ebay particularly if you have the original instruction leaflets and boxes. If you can bear the time to make sure every last brick is there and photograph it put together, even better.

Even putting all the lego in a pile together with description and weight for collection only will give you a better price than at a carboot.

Our carboots consist of a high volume of traders. It's important to think what is more important to you, declutter or money.

Traders can be quite rude and pushy some to the point of opening your doors and having a mooch at your stuff, my tip would be as soon as you park up, lock the doors and wander off, and come back in 5 mins to start setting up.

Or be very robust and tell em to back off until your setup.

Its personal preference as to price up or not. I prefer to price my stuff up and put a little bit on so there is room to haggle.

As for your lego I would put it on ebay its amazing how much it will go for - you rarely see it on car boot sales now and if you do its snapped up early. Im positive it would be worth a lot more than £10 as even the smaller models are around the £5 mark when new.
  • Thanks for all your helpful comments. We did it and made the grand total of £40.60 minus our £10 to get in lol. We got rid of quite a lot of stuff but at 50p to £1 an item didnt add up to much. The guy on the stall next to us said Saturdays aren't a good day there so we are going to go and try again today if the weather stays nice. We left all the stuff in the car and added a few more garden ornaments so hope we have better luck this time.

I really can't believe how little some people expect things for though

(The Lego didnt sell because the people that asked about it wanted lego that made specific things not random bricks. Might get the rest out the loft and sort it out properly.)

Any advice from experienced car-booters would be valued. Thanks.

    Don't wear a top.

People will flock to your stall.

Having said that if you're a fat hairy man, it might scare them off.

Boot sales are something of a 'last chance saloon' for unwanted items, where unwanted things sell for throwaway prices.

Particularly with things like Lego, where there is a very healthy market on eBay, I'd always give eBay a try first, where you are almost certain to receive a dramatically better price.

  • Yay we made £70 today :j i didnt bother trying to sell the lego as definitely think better to ebay that. Was looking at how much Lego figures go for as got loads of them, someone at car boot said they fetch more than the bricks, I came across this that made me chuckle.

I suppose it depends on how attractive you are, your levels of fitness, and the intended role the buyer has for you?

As others often say, don't put a price tag on, as you might sell yourself too cheap.
Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
    Should OF, would OF
. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.
  • Lol Baffcat I realised how badly I had worded that title, probably should have inserted the word 'things' in there somewhere :rotfl:
