Ppi help!!!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying to start looking into claiming back PPI was going to go to a management company ( I hear you a screaming no do it yourself) my problem is i can not remember all details and in cases the actual lender, all i read is get credit report i have done this but it only goes back 6 years which is no good as alot go back further, I always was a mortgage tart so to speak hopping and jumping to better deals each time every couple years , also had loans from used vauxall and ford dealers but can not remember actual lenders, can i not get a full credit report from say i was 18 ( 22 years back ) instead of the 6 year one? (lets just say got bit wiser as i've aged and am sure i was caught out when i was more financially naive)I need to work of a full report , how can i get this? this has been really nagging me for a few months now but i'm getting no where , think i'm loosing the plot with it. Would be very grateful for step by step advice as i am lost in the waves on info around and so confused i feel like dropping it

credit reports only go back 6 years as you have already said so why are you asking about ones that go back 22 years? 6 years is 6 not 22.

credit reports wont tell you if you had PPI or not. you are not even sure if you have PPI let alone if it were mis-sold. If you cant remember about who your loans were with then go through bank statements to have a look.

Im not really sure what you want.

Sorry!! , thought it was clear what i was asking. I do not know how this works as I said report i got only went back 6 years how am i meant to know they do not go back further? that was the point in the question (denoted by the question mark!!!!)

Q1. can i not get a full credit report from say i was 18 ( 22 years back ) instead of the 6 year one?

I did not say i wanted credit report to tell me if i had ppi did i?, i'm looking to find out who my loans and mortgages where with in the past, so i can work of this as a basis is that not how this is done?

Of coarse I do not know if i have had PPI or not, but again all advice i have read said most people would not even of known they have been signed up for it so i am trying to check.

And to answer your question 'what i want' , help and advice simple! what i thought this site was about , not nasty degrading comments regarding my query (6 is 6 not 22), yes i am naive to this (ppi) but not you attitude if this is your form of help I will thank you to keep it to yourself

No, because the companies that produce credit reports don't keep any records older than 6 years.

. . . and going to a claims company would be pointless because they only work on the information you give them. You supply the info, they put a stamp on the envelope and send it off for you. So you still have to do all work . . . plus pay them for the privilege.
Problem is, if you can't remember who you borrowed from, or if you even had PPI, how could you possibly complain that something was miss-sold?

    Thank-you ,

Realistically do you think there is any point worrying about it?, If i even found paperwork chances are companies would not have any records, do they destroy after this time also? appreciate your advice

If you have paperwork to support your complaint(s) you can use this. In the case of your car loans, if the dealer sold you the loan and PPI then you complain to them, not the lender, however they may not have been regulated at the time so can dismiss your complaint.

Phoned the bank for statements further than 6 years ago but they say i need a court order for them to be accessed, i found an old credit report i had from 2008 shows items back to 2002 this lists companies i had mortgages and loans with no account numbers though so will try and start contacting them.

What put this PPI back in my head was a phone call i got couple of days back, they had my home address and said that they where forwarded my details from 'a' back, as i do not like discussing details of anything from cold calls i declined . Do bank etc do this and forward on details

The best thing to do is contact all bank and other companies you have a record for .

Ring and ask them if you had PPI ?

As you have a credit report 2008 you will know who they are.

If you have a good reason for being mis sold that is fine but do not use a claims company unless you want to pay them 30% of any payout if you win, in most cases a call or a letter of enquiry will get your answer.

Be prepared to wait !! for an answer it could take some time.

You don't need a court order, you need a SAR and £10. They may have destoryed the info though.
