I have only been to a Tribunal once. It wasn't for me but for my disabled wife. She couldn't attend as she was in bed poorly so I turned up. I asked for an adjournment which they refused so I asked them why it was OK for them to 'tell' my wife on two previous occasions that the hearing wasn't going ahead because of (a) there was too much snow on the road and one of the panel couldn't get there (b) one of the panel was ill? They refused to answer telling me 'it was going ahead now!'
Anyhow, I answered many questions some silly some down right stupid, but hey, then we got onto medication. They asked how she coped with pain that her meds didn't help??? So I told them the truth - I medicate her with my meds (Morphine MST & Oramorph).
I was told to leave the room in no uncertain terms. 5 mins later they had me back and told me that I was dealing drugs and that they intended to report me to the police and advise my GP what was happening.
It went downhill after that and walked out eventually.
To say the least they denied her any award!!!
Since then if I wasn't awarded a benefit I refused to appeal - they are very much one sided and appear to believe the DWP over the claimant.0
