Offer until end of SEPT.My renewal was cheaper than other quotes this year,£198..The cheapest the POST OFFICE could quote was £298.So I had to pay that price, send renewal proof and they will refund the differance plus £50 within 60 days bringing my renewal down to £148..Plus i went through Topcashback and hopefully will get another £20 odd cashback which they have initially acknowledged. Its only if you are over 50 years old ,though Home insurance does not have age restrictions.See www.postoffice.co.uk/insurance for details.

Great news for you, but the question that comes to mind. Is this really underwriting when a company that thinks that the risk is worth £298.00 will accept it at £128.00?
And what will happen next year?0 -
Well next year the renewal will probably be over £300 but if you have got it for £128 this year well done.
I'm always a bit wary of these offers to beat the renewal by £x, especially if there is such a difference in the price - £100 in your case, and they are going to deduct another £50! Halfing the price of a policy is not usual especially as you are probably getting their best rate as a new customer at £298.
My concern would be that they will pick certain differences in the 2 policies when you send them the renewal and say that it's not the same / comparable cover (although I'm sure you have confirmed the details with them).
Please do let us know if this works out and they honour the price offered as it sounds like a great deal.0 -
            Isnt this ageist?
Im 28 and this deal isnt open to me.
(This is a joke, but i dare say if they were offering under 50s or under 65s the same deal there would be a backlash of pensioners somewhere).I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. They are offering free breakdown cover instead for under 50,s.I did ring them up concerning matching policy details ,as my excess was only£100 with my other insurance and the lowest excess offered on there quotes was £150.But they said that was ok as it was not possible to match by them. So I am hoping all will go smoothly with refund. As for next year ,there always seems to be one exceptional deal somewhere[like this one] to find.Considering I am in a London borough and my car is only 2 years old.I am well happy with this.0

Let us beat your renewal quote
If you’re over 50 we’ll guarantee to beat your car insurance renewal quote by at least £50 as long as you take our policy, subject to the offer terms and conditions.
We’ll provide you with a quote. Once you’ve agreed it and gone ahead with the policy we’ll ask you to send us your relevant documentation from your existing provider. If we’re happy that our policy is on a like-for-like basis with your existing insurance, we’ll pay you back the difference plus £50.
Please keep us updated. It would be easy for them to find differences after you are insured with them.0 -
I will let you all know what happens ,but as the offer finishes on 30th Sept. ,and I might have to wait 60 days for refund[they send details of refund application with policy which I havent got yet], you might have to take the plunge yourself to find out if it is viable.I shouldnt thinx you will have a problem with P.O. though if it goes wrong and I want cancell the policy, theres a £30 cancellation fee after the 14 days grace.still I like a risk/.0

            Good for you fuunyguy.
I sincerely hope this works out. It would possibly give me a bit of faith in these types of offers!
Don't forget if you cancel you'll stll have to pay for time on risk and it's normally not just a case of the price for 12 months divided by 6 and add the canx fee. They do usually load the first few months costs.0 -
Just to let interested parties know.I waited patiently for 60 days, and heard nothing from P.O.I rang today to find out that because my old policy included business use[which I knew nothing about] and I had not asked for it on P.O. insurance .They could not match policies for refund.and had informed me by post 31st Aug to contact them[strangely I never received this].But the good news is that all I had to do today was pay an extra £24 for business use ,and now that the policies match they would immediatly refund the £150 owed plus the £24 they have just taken. So in the end worked out.The £50 price promise is still available on Home insurance by the way.Havent received my £20 cashback from Topcashback yet,but still hopeful of receiving as has gone through initial stages.0
