McDonald's grr just let them try!

I went out with my mum, aunt and two of my children earlier. Mum was taking the kids out afterwards and dropped me off on route, so I had shifted my eldest into the middle from behind Mum - the significance becomes apparent later.

Got home and rang my parents house to let Mum know I was back and Dad said she had been hit. I called my husband who'd just left to go to his parents and he came back for me. Our route to the hospital took us past the collision site which is right outside a McD and they were still there. My sister had already got there and took the children into McD's for the toilet/ food/ calm down but Mum was being worked on still. We left our car there as it was the nearest safe place to park (it was on a junction that feels almost like being on the m-way) and when the ambulance left we went into the restaurant to check on the children. Whilst we were in there the police came in to say that they had brought the car around but someone needed to stay with it as the damage had meant it was unsecured so my husband went out to sit in our car until the rescue people came.

FIL turned up to take the children and we asked him to pop in and give the manager the reg plates. Response from the manager? You have 90 minutes and then you get a fine, there's nothing we can do about it!

When my sister and I got to the hospital the police were there and we told them. They thought it was hysterical and said if the report number wasn't enough they would send someone to park it on the double yellows near by! I'm really hoping they try it because that's wound me up so much that I'd happily take it on and I guess you'll have fun with it too! Anyway, should we do anything or just wait and see?

Mum is OK and home, she has a fused adontoid(sp?) peg, it's part of the cervical spine, so gets thrown around a little more than most people so they don't take chances and being on the side of the collision took the brunt of it. My daughter fortunately being in the middle (I'm so glad now I let them take me part way) was fine, my baby was cross but loved the attention and the police man had a shiny watch he liked. After we got back to my parents both my aunt and daughter were starting to get some pain in their lower backs etc and we're going to call physio to check on my son because he is too little to say if he's in pain and a baby who has a physio really should see them after a crash I think.

    Ignore it, simple as.
  • I'm going to wait and see if anything happens, if it does I'll be making the biggest stink and make sure the news knows too.

  • Response from the manager? ... there's nothing we can do about it!
Responses like that from the so-called managers at places like McD and ASDA should be countered with the question, "why are you delibrately lieing to me - does you head office know you routinely lie to your customers?" That'll put them on the defensive. If you want to antagonise them more, you could ask them why they call themselves a "manager" when they clearly have no authority and no empowerment. It may not endear them to you, but personally I would ask these questions just because I am a belligerent soul in such circimstances.
