My son was saying today the local eastern europeans are doing a wash, dry, glass clean, tyre slick, sills cleaned AND a full polish for £10!

As for the Eastern Europeans, most of their 'yards' are used to launder money. The one up the road from me was always busy, but shut down after the owner was caught using the yard along with others to 'clean' illegally-obtained money.

Thats a bit of a generalisation isnt it?

Irrespective though - they're very cheap and if i was thinking of setting up in valeting i'd want to know what the competition charges.

I wasn't on here asking for customers, you seem to mix up asking for advice/research and portraying myself as a fully qualified valeter.

I totally get where you are coming from, however before thinking about how much you need to charge and how many cars you can do a day, you will need to know your 'product' or 'service' thoroughly.

As I stated, you need to do your research. A LOT of research. That's my advice.

    no but can learn fast.

Not on my car you wouldn't...

There are differences between a car wash, a car valet, and a
    car detailer..

Car wash £5, valet £50, detail £500.. (Yes really)

Head over to deatlingworld the boys and girls over there know their stuff about car cleaning..

The challenge you will have is that anyone who will pay £££ for a detail will want references, insurance and demonstration you know what your doing...

Good luck with the enterprise fingers crossed for you

I'm actually a little offended at this, and I'm not 'Eastern European' so to speak (I'm Eurasian).

My business is certainly not used for money laundering, at all. It's been built as the result of some 40,000 hours of work!

The one's across the city where I am based were used to bring in slave labour. One in the UK, the gang master would take them to and from work. They had their ID taken off them, paid no PAYE or NI. The owner of the car washes was involved in a £500,000 VAT fraud and passing back counterfeit notes in the customers change. Some of the "harder" Eastern Europeans were involved in protection, Prostitution and loan sharking.

All this from a dozen car washes in Coventry. So be as offended as you like, I am really offended that these people were in my country at all and committing major crime.

Are you offended that it's happening, or because someone had the effrontery to mention it?

More offended at the way it was worded, thus possibly suggesting that tax is more voluntary contribution in certain places in the world. I don't like that it happens, however at the same time is isn't ALL immigrants dodging tax, and I feel this should be noted.

Sorry but racist? maybe bigoted or an over generalization, Eastern European people are not a race on there own, so it can't be racist.
