Anyone having trouble with their TiVo box. On demand and watching recordings.
Also Virgin Media, does anyone think that their landline is more expensive than the landline price.
Experiences anyone?

Just had my Tivo box installed last week, and barring a few account subscription issues at installation I have had no real problems.
On demand and recordings are fine (did have some slight buffering in one HD show but not enough to really stop me watching).
My box does seem to take an age to load from switch on though. It appears to cycle through start up 4 times taking about 90 seconds each time. Is this normal?
As for the landline, I'm not sure what you're asking. Too early in the morning to try and figure that one out!
BTW pepper, I'm in NI too so your issue isn't a local one.0 -
I'm in Surrey and both live TV and catchup services are down as of around 9.30 am0

I use the virgin media status page to see if any issues in the area, as of now no i dont have any problems and did last night as far as I could tell.0

thanks guys, we had a senior engineer out today, and he says the whole of our area is down, he discovered this whenever people came out of their houses to talk to him about it, when they saw his van.
It seemingly it that our broadband has never worked properly, and we have all had a problem with the cables etc. Broadband back on, but Tivo still no on demand.
As for the phone, Our landline phone we don't use much, we always use our mobiles, but if we dial any 0870,0845 numbers, it costs a fortune, even to ring my sister who lives 3 miles away, costs an arm and a leg. So Virgin have offered us a mobile at £26 a month, and no data limit, no limit on calls, or texts, and free to all those 08 numbers. So it would probably cost us less. Is there any real need for a landline nowadays, or use it just for incoming calls.0 -
Hi Pepper33
I wouldn't take the £26 a month package. If you already have a Virgin Media landline, then there are a whole range of better AND CHEAPER options!
I'm presuming that you have a virgin landline phone at 14.99 a month
use 118 180 directory to connect you to the companies on 0845/08544 etc for FREE - 10 times a day, 365 days a year!
they can for 4.60 extra add evening and weekends for any UK number and a virgin mobile, or;
8.00 per month gives you 24/4 UK landlines and virgin mobiles, or;
15.00 a month for ANY UK landline, ANY UK mobile, ANY 0845/0870 number.... all of the above subject to 60 mins max talk time
call them on 150 from your virgin media home phone, and ask them to look at your phone calls... they can advise the best option. You can also ask if they'd give it free for a month to try out (the agents you speak to can credit upto 60 - but it it's 15.00 they might actually say yes for your first month - i would if you spoke to me lol).
NO harm in asking, but i def think the 26.00 a month is NOT the best thing for you - this will include a 24 month contract!
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!0 -
but if you do need to call virgin and you DO NOT HAVE VIRGIN HOME PHONE... use 0800 953 53 530

I get bored with Virgins attitude to customers, they send me advertising every week, but regulations have banned that, but they break the law.
So as soon as the internet runs slow, or my TV box reboots, for no reason, I'm on the blower to them 150.
If you run speedtest.net, and it doesn't match your advertised speed, and you complain. They give you a £10-20 refund on your bill. If everyone does this, they will either improve their service, or reduce their bills!
I asked for ebilling - they couldn't do that, nor send me a paper bill, so as I hadn't received a bill? What to do?0 -
I can't help with the TiVo but do consider the VM phone charges to be excessive so I have no VM phone line. Some people have negotiated good loyalty deals with reduced phone costs. My loyalty deal is reduced BB cost as that's all I have.
If you cancel the VM phone line then the BB will go up and your saving will only be about £2. If you do actually use the landline phone then consider a VOIP service such as Vonage. I have the Vonage UK package which costs £5.99 and that is pretty much paid for by the savings on having no phone line as I do like caller display which comes free with Vonage but is ~ £2 from VM. You have to pay 0845 0870 etc but SayNoto0870 gets past many of those and the Vonage per minute costs are reasonable anyway.0 -
It seems they all charge the same. I like VM, and would like to stay with them, but it has let us down an awful lot this year, and other people who live near. they are coming tomorrow to replace all the cabling.0
