Wrong fuel in car

Hi

Can anyone confirm that if I've put petrol in a diesel (about 16.33ltr) but did not start/drive it would my warranty be affected?

Have you drained it with no damage? If they never know how could it?
  • Waiting on it being drained as we speak. I just wondered if maybe the petrol might affect it in some way? I don't think it will as I haven't started it just looking reassurance as much as anything

If you have not started the engine, don't worry.

    All will be well.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • Yep keep schtum, what the dealer doesn't know can't hurt him.

Well done for spotting your mistake before restarting.

Once the tank's drained, make sure you fill it to the brim with diesel on the refill. It will help dilute any small amounts of petrol left inside the tank that escaped the draining process.

Good words of advice- good luck!
  • Thanks all, I'm 135 quid lighter (plus full tank or diesel and the petrol I used!) but I'm back on the road

My wife did this and drove 10 miles before she realised. There was no engine damage.
