Anyone do Tough Mudder, Tough Guy, Total Warrier, etc?

The ones I am looking at are around 12 mile run, with obstacles, so I don’t think that’s particularly extreme really. Along the same lines as fell running and so on.
OK, I can see some appeal in that. The obstacles would make it more interesting. I wouldn't want to do much more than 12 miles though.0 -
DH has come in the top 5-20 ofTough Guy before but he's a very fit marathon running personal trainer, he lapped people on it. But there's no reason why you couldn't be at the back with the 'normal' people having a laugh!
It depends on your goals. If I was doing it (which for me isn't even something I'd entertain! Lol) I'd be amazed just to finish it, whereas for DH he wants to be up at the front winning.0 -
For what it's worth, I recently did my first Tough Mudder(2 weeks ago) and Loved it!!! After I completed it I was cold, tired and wet and said I wouldn't do it again. Now the bruises have subsided and the challenge is now a memory, I would do one again in a heartbeat.
We did it as a team of 8 ladies for charity age ranging from I think 23-41(me being 40) all different abilities but all reasonably fit and we all had our own fears to conquer, mine being heights and I'm pleased to say I did it all even jumping off a 13ft wall into water(took me a few goes).
I am now stuck with nothing to aim for and looking for my next challenge!!
I took it as an achievement, as never done anything like this before, I climbed tall things when have fear of heights, ran 12 miles which I have never done before and raised lots of money for a very worthy cause. The atmosphere is fantastic as well.0 -
I did Tough Mudder for the first time in May this year. I am by no means a runner but I completed the 13 miles and 20+ obstacles. I did it with a team who had all done them before and they dragged me round.
I might do it again but would want to train - and would want to avoid the ice box on Tough Mudder so might hope its not somewhere else.
Basically a 15 foot deep tank of ice you jumped into then swam underwater to get out. It was freezing but also it made you all dizzy and odd and I was all over the shop!
If you have never done it do it - recommended it in a team.
Oh and Tough Guy in the January is very hard - my partner found it a challenge and he is a fitness type person runs etc. It is very cold! And you might get caught up on obstacles and that will make you colder - the first people racing were cracking the ice on the river and some people were being dragged out with first stages of hypothermia!3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

My OH and some friends did the 10k Rock Solid Race a couple of weeks ago - they loved it. A couple of them said it was harder than the Tough Mudder they had done previously. They didn't train excessively - ran a certain amount of miles each week and completed it as a team in an hour and a half. Said it was great fun and they are doing the next Tough Mudder on 2nd November... think I will just watch again! Am going to do one when I find enough time to train for it but until then will be sitting on the sidelines watching at the obstacles!!0

I really fancy doing Tough Mudder but am apprehensive of the electrical cables

Just do the Iron Man, at least thats a proper challenge and a decent achievement because its really hard. Stuff like the Tough Mudder is just gimmicky really.0

There are lots of other mud and obstacle races out there that don't have the electrical cables, as far as I know. Total warrior, Spartan race, Survival of the fittest, Major series, Nuts challenge...
Major Series and Nuts definitely don't have them.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0 -
Am definitely going to do a Spartan Race next year
Was signed up for this year but a medical procedure put paid to it

I can't afford Iron Man, have you seen the entry fee? Plus I would need a far better bike, and a wetsuit.0
