Does it say amount carried 'forward' to another period of 'amount carried to another period'?

Have you got your 13/14 initial award notice? Is is showing on there?

  • Sorry just got home!

It states amount carried forward to another award period.

When I look at this years award notice, it doesn't seem to show the amount, however it does state Potential Payment - this may change because we cannot work out the exact amount ...

I'm really lost again. Thanks IQ

Hard to say without seeing the paperwork. How much is the potential payment?

The amount carried forward normally crops up when there have been multiple overpayments across years and lots of recovery then overpayments written off and money gets moved around years. That wouldn't apply in this case.

The only reason I can think of for why it would show on a 12/13 notice is if there is a £490 underpayment on 12/13 which they take to 13/14 to offset against a 'potential' overpayment but if that were the case the 490 would be shown on the 13/14 notice as a carry forward. And secondly, if that had happened you shouldn't have a potential payment showing.

It would be easier to figure out with all of the paperwork. So I suggest as a start you ring the helpline and just simply ask them to confirm which year the payment has been carried to. I have seen cases where they used the term 'carried forward' but it actually went back to another year.

  • I will ask them now, I thought I'd had the most confusion last year, but now I know not :-)
