We are looking to make some alterations to our house and want to knock a doorway through a block internal wall.
Just so we can get an idea of how much room we will have left on the wall, if we were to fit a 686mm door, how big would the hole have to be cut to allow for casing and architrive etc?
Thanks

Depends on the thickness of the timber used in the door lining (casing).
If using a 32mm*138mm lining then width will be 686+32+32.0 -
Many thanks for that, i always think its going to be more complicated than it is!!0

They are thick linings DD, down here standard lining kits tend to be 22mm thick, 32mm is a seriously thick lining..
If I'm fitting the doors I allow 686 mm + 22mm + 22mm + 5mm(2.5mm joint each side of door) that way I only need to plane minimal off the width of the door0
