Credit card - refused due to less than £5K income

in Credit cards
I have a CC from the bank (Lloyds) which I rarely use, but had a £600 repair bill on my car a couple months back, so dug it out, dusted it off and used it. I manage to pay off about £40 a month, but its still incurring interest which I would rather avoid. Tesco recently offered me a credit card, and as they were offering 9 month interest free on balance transfers I thought that would help me by keeping the interest low and allowing me to pay off the remainder quicker.
Just had a reply today stating they won't consider my application as my part-time earnings are less than £5K (didn't see this mentoned anywhere on the application). My household income is around £17K, but as I was applying in my own name, they wouldn't take me.
If I applied again, for this or any other card, would I be able to get a joint card with both me and hubby named, and still transfer my outstanding balance on my existing card (solely in my name)?
The only reason I am trying to get a new card is to bung the balance on it and stop the interest whilst I clear it over the next 6 months or so, as I will probably not use it again in a hurry!
Thanks

There is no such thing as a joint credit card. You simply can add secondary cardholders to an individuals account but the account holder and person liable remains the same.
You can transfer anyones balance onto your creditcard but you then become 100% liable for the debt. If your husband is willing to assume your debt for you then he can apply for any card other than Lloyds (if wanting a 0% transfer) and then transfer the balance to his card irrespective of if you are named as a secondary cardholder.
I think Santander is the exception that say it should be your own card its coming from but they dont really have a legitimate way of checking if it is or isnt.0 -
Are you sure the tesco application doesn't ask for household income? Most if not all that I have seen do, so you can count in everyone else's wages, benefits etc.Oh, you wee bazza!0
