Driving Licence - change of name address query

Hi all
I want to change my name on driving licence which is easy enough but we are in the process of buying a house so makes sense to wait until we have completed and get everything changed in one go. But we will be doing a lot of renovations so do not expect to move in before Christmas. Shall I just keep it as it is and then once we have actually moved change it all then? I did change my name on my log book so they don't really match up, what are the legal implications?

Can't see a problem with what you are suggesting.

Presumably this is due to marriage/ divorce?

You are supposed to keep them up to date and insurers can ask questions if they don't match up however a change of name is less of an issue than the change of address as long as you have the documentation to support the fact that both names are you (eg marriage certificate)

Ok thanks all. I know you can get in trouble if you don't have the correct address on licence but seeing as I will be living in my rented accommodation until the house is completed that will be my permanent address.

The address on a driving licence needs to a GB home address at which you can be contacted, it does not necessarily have to be your home address.

yep, the licence address needs to be somewhere in the uk that you can be contacted rather than where you actually live..

Mine is still my parents even though I haven't lived there since 1979.
