Deduction from Deposit

Hi all
We are about to leave our rented house at the end of this month, the house is well maintained and I will get it cleaned too but my AST states that when we moved in the house was cleaned domestically as I was very clear to the inventory guy to mention that as it was just badly done up and given. Now that we are leaving, do we need to get the property cleaned professionally or not.
I have checked the AST and it does not state anywhere that it has to be cleaned professionally.
One more thing, our shower room as no light or extractor fan close to the shower room, there is only one of each in the bathroom and its quite far from the shower room, and due to moisture there, the paint has started to come off from the top, there is no mold as I make sure its clean all the time but the paint coming off coz of no extractor fan is not really something I can do anything with, just want to know if they do take money off my deposit do I have leg to stand for this.
Thanks

If the contract does not state that it must be professionally cleaned and you leave it in a state that is either equal to or better than the check in state then the landlord will not be able to charge you for a professional clean.
Not sure regarding the second question, if the peeling is the result of a flaw in the property and not negligence on your part I suspect you're unable to be held accountable but someone else may be able to give you a more complete answer.0 -
Any 'professionally cleaned' clauses are not enforcible anyway.
LEave it, less wear and tear, as you got it, thats all your responsible for0 -
Was it professionally cleaned when you moved in....nope so leave as foundDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Thanks for the replies
Just wondering what about the second point.
Can they hold me liable to repaint the area above the shower or claim it on my deposit as I don't think I am at fault genuinely here as there is no extractor fan for the moisture to go out. I do leave it open, the rest of the bathroom is perfectly alright but just the ceiling above shower room is damp and paint is peeling off it.0 -
I wouldn't have thought so and you could easily argue against any proposed deduction saying what you've said. You ventilate as much as possible and clean regularly, as evidenced by the lack of mould, but there is no window and the extractor fan is too far away. It would have been best if you'd reported the defect in writing earlier on and kept a copy of the letter.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
