That's not bad advice. If you aren't able to manage your account adequately then a basic bank account could well be better for you.
It's nothing to do with being working class; plenty of working class people are willing to put in the effort to keep on top of their finances. If anything, spending money that you don''t have, without arranging a proper loan first is more associated with the upper classes than traditional working class. Working class tend to understand the value of money, and keep a proper eye on how much they have.
You do rather seem to want to blame other people for something that was 100% your fault, by the way. You may not want to take responsibiity for your actions, but as you've seen, it can have negative outcomes for you.0 -

Really all I wanted to know is should my bank be showing a 'true' balance whether in debit or credit. There has got to be something in 'Banking Standards' but I can't find anything. It did used to until February! Really frustrating.
Thanks to everyone for their input
You seem to have high ideals and principles. Unfortunately these come at a price, it seems you are going to have to learn to manage your money to stay in credit. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
So just to be clear is it both your available and your current balance showing 0.00?
I suppose if they have no fix for the issue and you are not in a position or willing to move banks you will just have use telephone banking and ATMs to check your balance, do they offer text alerts for when your balance is low?
I assume you do have a right to know if you have gone overdrawn, but Natwest are offering multiple ways of you checking it i suppose. Not everyone relies on mobile/internet banking and will successfully check and run their account based on ATMs and good old fashioned account planning on what is going in and out account!
