Having just negotiated (without any difficulty) a reduction in my Telewest (Virgin) monthly rental for phone/TV/broadband from £48 to £24 I have had to accept a reduction in my Virgin PCGuard service in the area of Anti-Spyware control. Instead of the full PCGuard service, I now have PCGuard LITE which no longer deletes spyware automatically.
Is there a free software that will just check for spyware and delete it. I am very satisfied with all the other facilities provided by PCGuard.

There is a free one as part of the Google pack, Spyware Doctor I think. Just search for google pack on google. Uncheck all the other pack stuff you don't want.0

Spybot S&D for spyware, AVG for virus protection. You don't need to pay for protection and to be honest AVG and Spybot S&D have never let me down.0

Thanks, guys, I seem to be spoilt for choice.
I will still be using Virgin's PCGuard for all my other security. Does anyone know whether one of the above will work better with PCGuard than the rest?0 -

You can't always rely on free software, I set up a relative with Spybot, adaware and AVG and he got a virus that none would remove. I advised installing nod32 after all the positive reviews here but in the end it was a trial version of Bitdefender that managed to clean the system. Sometimes you get what you pay for0
