Problems with wallpaper for mobile

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace.
Everytime I set a picture off my galary for my wallpaper, it makes the picture too large.
It doesn't matter if it's a photo I've taken or a downloaded picture, it zooms to large, and I only get a small part of the picture. Even if I crop it it doesn't make any difference.
Does this happen on all Android phones, or is there something I can do about it?
Thanks,
Candy

It depends on how your homescreen is setup (and what version of Android your phone has).
Android phones can have more than one homescreen which are accessed by swiping left or right. By default the phone has 3 homescreens and the image is strecthed across these, meaning that your default homescreen will have some of the image missing from the left and right edges. You can add or homescreens by pressing the bottom left Menu button and then choose Edit.
On newer versions of Android, when you press and hold in a blank area of your homescreen and choose Wallpapers, then Gallery, then choose a picture, at the bottom of the screen there are two icons. A mountain split over 3 rectangles and a mountain contained in one rectangle. Choosing the one split over 3 rectangles uses scrolling wallpaper mode. Choosing the one with one rectangle uses the more traditional fixed wallpaper (one picture that does not scroll).
Hope that helps.
