Asda - £5 for the DVD rom, it's not "cheap" as you might like, but it's more than plenty to get you through the test & comes with hints etc for the practical too.

This site is about money saving.

Why pay for a DVD, when you can do the same for free online?.

Because the DVD may be a better resource, making you [a] a better driver and more likely to pass, this avoiding having to pay an additional fee to re-sit the test, thus saving money :)

One has to question the validity of a theory test where learners can simply memorise answers to questions and then forget everything the second they pass.

The speed limits on dual carriageways
The definition of a dual carriageway
When you can and cannot overtake on hatch markings
Why you mustn't park 2 ft from the kerb
What the national speed limit sign means
Why having a 4x4 doesn't mean you can drive like an idiot
Why having an Audi doesn't mean you own the road (Audiots)

There should be no help with any of the above, questions should be asked and the driver assessed on their ability to apply logic and reasoning to their decisions.

Idiots can memorise text books, they do it all day long at universities up and down the country, but idiots cannot apply logic and reasoning. They're going to be driving a 1 tonne killing machine, it's not a lot to ask.
“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

  • That doesn't help the OP though. He needs to pass the test however irrelevant or pointless it may or not be.

My daughter has a CD rom from somewhere that all the cousins and my son have used previously. Theory test next week.

Because there's a major difference between saving a few quid on things like utilities and suchlike and being so cheap that you won't spend a fiver on something useful. Perhaps it's just me, but I'd rather spend the fiver purely because unlike the online free efforts it coaches you through the theory rather than just learning the right answer.
