Asbestos in extractor fan liner?

In the process of ripping out an old (80s) VentAxia extractor fan and when I went to remove the lining box it split and it looks quite a lot like asbestos so I've left well alone.

Pics in the links below, could it really be Asbestos? Or something else?

Your links aren't working, however if you suspect you have asbestos you need to get someone in to look at it properly who is able to appropriately deal with it.

Yes it does "look" like it is but that doesn't mean it is. However it's very likely to be asbestos cement which is very, very low hazard unless you break it, drill it and generally raise a lot of dust from it (oh you have broken it!). If you can get it out in one piece without further breaking it and do dampen it first then do so, double bag it and treat it as if it were asbestos cement board. Inevitably your local council reuse and recycling centre (what was wrong with the much easier and smaller word "tip"?) will have disposal facilities for it. If it won't come out I'd just leave it be and work around it.

Also inevitably and usually unecessarily, the standard asbestos hysteria fuelled posts are yet to come.
