Have just got the above . Any recommendation for virus protection please ? Already have AVG paid version on my laptop so am considering it for the phone .

Avg paid, I use avast as its free

what are you planning on doing with the phone that would expose it to a virus?
If you are just downloading apps from the play store you should be fine....

Reading multiple posts on Android forums SGS1 2 3 4 etc .
Yet to actually see an infected phone reported .

I thought anti virus was a general requirement on any smartphone . I will mainly be browsing websites like MSE and downloading a few apps like word reference.com0 -

don't see the point in installing something that can potentially slow the phone down and use battery life if you are not sideloading apps.
I've had android phones since 2009 without getting a virus - but each to their own (op, if you read the link I posted earlier it tells you about safety features built in to android now)This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
