Data allowance - iPhone

Could someone please give me an idea about how much a 1GB data allowance is in real terms?
If main usage is web browsing, messaging, emails and maybe a few minutes of Facetime maybe once a week or so, would a 1GB monthly allowance be enough?

DD is looking at different deals and I have no clue what 1GB means in terms of day-to-day usage :o
Thanks
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

1GB is enough for many people, especially if you use wifi at home/work. Browsing, text-based messaging, emails and a few photos is fine. If you're getting into a load of youtube and BBC, you'll run out after an hour or few, so do those over wifi.

I've got 750MB included and generally never go over the 200MB mark. However my phone is connected to WiFi when at work and home so the data usage is minimal.

There is a calculator on the t-mobile site which may help:

The network doesn't really matter, perhaps it will give you some idea of data volumes?
    Thanks

My DD has 1GB and that seems plenty as long as she doesn't try to do too much streaming when she's not on wifi.

But if DD is a teenager and you will be paying the bill, I'd recommend going for some kind of a payg or capped tariff to make sure you don't get big bills - Tesco mobile do capped tariffs.
