and banished Vince Cable (the only senior politician who predicted the financial crash, and to deaf ears) to a toothless ineffectual department where his protests are being ignored again, there doesn't seem to be anyone about to rein them in.

Cable has dug his own hole........

Some of his comments defy belief.
  • He seems like a wild card, he is the closest thing we got to Ron Paul I think is the most complimentary thing that could be said.
He is not the type to pay any attention to what he should be saying, which in 2 faced politics is practically admirable

I think he lost a lot of credibility over the Murdoch BSkyB bid. Bad judgement to talk to anybody about his stance before the fact (particularly a so called "pretty" journalist) without imagining how a biased media could clobber him with it. Should have kept his mouth shut and skewed the decision his way after the report. I think he's been sidelined ever since then, which is a bad thing for policy overall.

And it enabled another "empty suit" tax avoider (dividends paid in property leased back to his company saving over £100,000 in tax and no stamp duty paid) and expenses fiddler (£9500 paid back after investigation - only half the illegal amount) like Jeremy Hunt to climb the pole further.

Vince Cable, the Cassandra of modern politics. Didn't he predict 17 of the last 2 recessions?
  • That last point is way off because he was correct all along, the fact he didnt get proven so till years later and it was too late does not make him wrong to have ever mentioned it.

Theres alot of thing wrong with economics, most of it works off that they can appear to make things true. So if I was in gov and reduced unemployment to zero would I be wrong or right; on the surface Im the greatest but if Ive achieved that by wasting incredible amounts of money Im very wrong.
With so much debt that silly example is far too close to correct, its irritating when they play off that criticising cutting budgets. It should be quality of government and governance not quantity

He has a big mouth apparently and puts his foot in it often ? :o
