There's not many Polo's out there without warning light woes - EPC light is a real favourite.
They're just not great cars, nobody's to blame, except VW themselves. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
That's just not true........ I took my car in for MOT, I told them it was struggling to reach 88mph, they phoned me later that day and said the flux capacitor was worn out, I got them to fit a new one and who woulda thunk it, everything was fine again!!!!!
i guarantee if a MOT tester started playing around & fixing cars during an mot he won't have his licence for long you cannot touch vehicles during a test only quick & minor items like bulbs etc.
you car would of had an mot carried out then after the test gone into there workshop for repairs.0 -

Have you never seen this movie, or heard of it even; And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
Op - have you actually checked the MOT history though, not just the service history.
It's free & instant, see here:

As for your problems, most of what you have said can pretty much be apportioned to wear and tear imo. Not what you wanted to hear but it comes with the territory of buying an old used car - I know it sucks.
Thanks for this - will check it out. I agree that most of the issues are down to the fact it is an older car, but the issues regarding the warning lights I am peeved about - being told it was "nothing to worry about" when it was actually a potentially dangerous fault (engine cut out randomly with no notice and when it does both steering and breaking goes...just before it went in to garage it did this as I was turning and left me straddled across 2 lanes on a busy road, then wouldn't start right away. Luckily it was night so no traffic). As i said in initial post i sent car back at least 5 times about this specific issue alone in the first few months (was in garage a few other times for other reasons, but, as you say, this is to be expected with an older car).0 -
