Drayton Manor - car park question

I am taking my kids there soon, never been before. Can anyone advise how close the car park is to the park and also can you leave the park to go to your car and then get back into the park?
I am thinking of taking our own food but don't want to carry it around with me all the time.

Ooh, just thought of another question - are there picnic benches or grassy areas to sit and eat your lunch?

thanks :D

You can return to your car we have done this on several occassions to get our picnic! As for how far away it depends on how busy the park is as to which car park you are directed to however we have never been more than a few mins walk from one of the park gates.

Just to answer your other question - there are plenty of under cover areas with tables and chairs to eat lunch and some grassy areas.
They also have lockers (for a small fee) if you don't want to keep going back to the car.

Its not a very big park so it would not take you too long to head back to the car and get your food.

We have done that before at most UK parks. Alton towers being one of the parks that is hard to do because of its size and the time involved in getting to and from the car depending where you are in the park.
