Prepayment electric meter not taking money?

Hi!!
Yesterday I gave in and had a prepayment electric Meter put into my house due to my debt with Eon. I had a gas meter put in a few months ago now and have found budgeting much easier knowing what I am using etc. so decided this would be best for me.
Anyway, I have an energy monitor too which clips onto the meter lead and estimates how much electric you're using, this has always been accurate and useful to us to see what we're spending.
Once the meter fitter had left yesterday, I turned on my electric monitor checked the battery (had to change these for new ones so it is definitely working), and put it nearby.
I proceeded to go about my day, put a wash on, my daughter had the TV on, yet my meter still read a 0 reading. I assumed the monitor was faulty and left it be for a while. This morning I came down and first thing I did was check my meters (today is weekly payday so I top up today usually!), to find that whilst my gas meter had used the usual
£1 a day, my electric meter still shows a reading of £10.01 (which is the exact amount it showed just after the meter filters left)
I'm really confused- does the meter take a few days to update the usage (it's a Scottish power meter as eon don't fit in my area), is it possible i used not even 1p worth of electricity in 24 hours? We only love in a 2 bed terrace, one TV which is on
Around 4 hours a day at most. Lights are all Eco lights, Eco washing machine.
I find it weird that my monitor which has always worked fine and batteries are working fine display is fine etc says 0p used as well
As my meter.
I couldn't find any other circumstance like this.
Anyone any idea??

Well 6 kWh of electricity should cost you more than 1p
Check what price the meter is charging you
This is from nPower, but explains PPMs display screens)

How much should 6kwh cost me? Just so i know what I'm going to be spending once this is sorted?
Also, none of the screens seem to tell me what they're charging per kwh on the meter.0 -
It will cost you 6 x your unit kWh rate-around 12p per kWh.
So c. 66p.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Please post a photo of your meter so we can identify which one you actually have, and so how to access the required information0 -
i bet the tariffs have not been set, call them back to reset or take your key to shop and top up this should also reset your meter and put tariffs on0

Ill put a picture up in
A minute- the key arrived in today's post, but the letter with it says 'do not put key in meter until money has all
Gone as it can wipe any remaining credit' so i don't want to do this and lose the £10 credit as I've paid for this (its added to my debt balance which I'm paying £6 a week for).
It sounds like the meter is faulty though I guess, thought maybe it was a 24 hour delay or something- ill give them
A call in morning and get this sorted!0 -
Hi stephbond89
Have you called us about this yet?
Something doesn't sound quite right and would be best to have a chat to one of our prepayment teams. They'll either talk you through setting the meter up or, if there's a fault, arrange for the engineer to return.
Usually, keys need to be initialised before being topped up by inserting in the meter for 30 seconds. However, as you say, be careful before doing this as you don't want to lose the credit already on the meter.
On the meter, which screen is showing £10.01? Just a thought but, if it's screen E, then this only shows how much credit has been put on the meter since it was installed and not how much credit you have to use. This will only change the next time you top up.
Sorry if I've the wrong end of the stick. Just ignore me if I have.
