Re. limit of seven TNS phone jobs per (latter) wave. How do you tell which wave any particular listed job is in? The closing dates have been shifted about so much, it seems impossible to tell. Or is the limit of seven now there to be ignored?

I think the main restriction is you can't visit a shop you have been to in the last six months. The waves all appear to be the same shops so can't see how this limit can be tracked.

If you can accept a job then you haven't hit your limit for that wave, it is the only way of telling.

  • Has anybody done work for Albatross? I recently signed up with them and have applied for jobs but don't get selected. I guess, it's because they are popular jobs. What are they like to work for?

I have got to say, I am impressed with TERN. They pay very quickly and give constructive feedback.
  • Any one had payment issues from TNS.
  • I did a load of van and car shops. Got a generic email stating they were not happy with them and were not paying. The scenario's were terrible with TNS insisting on formal quotes, I got into a right old argument with one dealer when he would'nt give me a letterheaded quote.
I send loads of emails to there generic address and no one replys. I have now binned them off and thinking of using Moneyclaim online to recover the fees.

Were it me, they would get a polite letter, sent recorded delivery to their registerred address requesting payment, then a letter before action, then yes, straight to small claims.

I'll be sure to mention you to them next time they ring me begging to get these visits done.

Personally, it smells to me like they've promised the client the earth, then realised they can't deliver, because no one can.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

I've done one, as a sort of trial. I managed to get a written quote, however the on the road price from the dealer differed from the price provided by the manufacturer - for the precise model. The software wouldn't let me complete the report. As soon as it spotted the difference it said I had to contact TNS. The salesman, quite reasonably I thought, pointed out that the key price was the net one. What I needed to compare was what it was going to cost, not a notional starting price.

TNS said they would go to the client and ask if I would be paid. They also asked for all my information, handwritten notes, formal quote etc. I haven't heard in two weeks and to be fair I haven't asked.

I'm very new to mystery shopping, but am coming to the conclusion that there is a need to test new scenarios in the real world, before distributing them to a nationwide workforce.

You never really know what you are applying for as you don't see the brief before apply, you could have been the wrong sex, too old, too young, anything really.
