I think most people are referring to the supermarket assignments with GR, some like the furniture store I don't apply for.

Agree - that the supermarket jobs are good if you get the right one. I don't get many GR jobs and only do them if they fit with other work. A positive is their reports are easy to do. I saw the fashion shop and thought it was quite a faff given the number of departments you had to ask questions of. I don't get offered many jobs from GR and live near a new city and really quite surprised at the lack of jobs from them.

I like the pharmacy assignments too -- quick and easy with a good fee and reimbursement. I don't mind the cat shops, if I'm in the area, because there's no requirement to keep the purchase.

But no, the furniture stores are a definite to avoid, as are the department stores I'm afraid. Far too much work for the money, particularly if your store is anything like the one I visited on the one occasion I did that job, where getting anyone to serve me was like pulling teeth.

Not as much fun as the nice bookies before the end of the road and before you get to the nice beer job pub one block to the left at the end of the same road.

    Happy days :D

I've gathered from this forum that a lot of people love working for GR. I've got my first assignment for them this weekend at a department store. Just reading through the brief and I need to visit three separate departments, try things on, ask questions of staff etc. I can easily see the visit taking an hour plus at least 30 mins on the report - the fee is absolutely nothing to write home about......

I joined GR, didn't get any work so chinned them off. Then decided I'd been a bit hasty, tried to rejoin but to no avail, even tried a different e-mail address....still no luck

Anyone got any recommendations for a stopwatch app on Android? Preferably for free.

Whenever I need to time anything, I use a really old Nokia mobile phone. It has a stopwatch./lap timings, etc, and I can covertly use it from my pocket as the button you press to stop/start, is huge, so I never miss a timing point :)
  • Does anyone have a referral for Gyp? I have never worked for them but I can't seem to get registered with them and feel I'm missing out x

I don't think GAP run a referral program, why haven't you been able to sign up with them direct?

Same here, using a touchscreen phone in your pocket just doesn't work. I just use an old phone with buttons for this. If the MSC wants a screen shot, I just take a photo of it with my smartphone.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

I forgot about the GR chemists. They are a good assignment and there is one around the corner to me :-)

I'm picking up a few extra assignments on the run up to Xmas, just to pay for the work "do's." Eventually got a Helion tablet job plus DS and some market checker stuff so it's keeping me out of mischief.

Hi, I'm a new MS with a handful of jobs under my belt, after being inspired by this forum. I've read through all the posts here and am kicking myself about the prospect of taking back a purchase I made (shoes) during an assignment yesterday. In this thread, it's very sensibly pointed out that you can take items back, so long as it doesn't say not to.

I'm pretty sure it didn't say not to in my assignment notes but now I'm stressing that it did and I missed it somehow! Please can I ask if anyone can confirm this for me if they have recently carried out a job involving shoes from a chain that sounds like it should be at the side of the road?

I don't want to do anything to jeopardise my chances of future ms assignments but at the same time, if there's a chance of taking the shoes back, I would like to, as the 'reumbursement' would come in more handy than the shoes at the moment.

I think I may well be over thinking it. I have downloaded and saved some assignment notes but not this one. I have to admit my reading of these notes was more rushed than others as I was thinking of this as an 'easier' assignment as it's the one that has involved the least travelling so far.

Perhaps wrongly/naively I was assuming that my receipt was proof to the company that I've done the job and nothing more, as payment is due a little under a month away and the returns policy is 2 weeks, I'm inventing a scenario in my mind where my payment is docked after I am found to have taken them back as some sort of check involving the receipt is made. I'm sure this level of imagining sounds totally ridiculous but there you go :) I'm sure I will chill out about it more as I do more.

Apologies to anyone who considers this a naive newbie question, I am kicking myself that I have this uncertainty, I just don't remember anything in the notes about refunds. Thank you very much if you can help.
  • Why dont you call/email the company and ask them? They'll be able to answer your question and you won't have to worry ;)

Hi thanks, was considering doing that, I think I was worrying in case they just said no. I'm sure it's not worth worrying about!

I did a shoe job once where I had to send the shoes back to the MS company and had to wait two weeks for the money back. No joke as they were £80. I would also be interested to hear what they say.

PS: My first post on this forum after weeks of looking, so hi everyone.
