New BT customers getting lower prices

Please be gentle with me, I don't come on here very often!

I have been with BT for over 40 years (sad, I know). I currently have BT Infinity 1 which should give me 38mb download and 9.5mb upload speeds, along with an allowance of 40GB usage per month. For this I currently pay £19.05 plus I pay £5.15 to have anytime calls i.e. £24.20 and I pay line rental upfront for a year. I currently only get 19.2mb download and 1.6mb upload speeds so I feel like I am already paying for a service which I do not get the full benefit of.

More annoyingly is the fact that new BT customers will pay much less than I am for the same package!

I was wondering if anyone had called BT re this issue and what their response was.

My reason for staying with BT is to get the free football app, but when you get it apparently it implies you are entering into a new contract.

Any pointers to help me when I call them would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

If you are outwith your contract for BB, then ask them for a discount to renew for another 12 months. This is the only way you will get it cheaper just like any service.

As above when you come to the end of your contract ask for a better rate if they say no then say you will leave them (even if you have no intention to) if they will not reduce the rate.

Stay calm, do not get aggressive but be firm . Ask for more than you are prepared to accept . Haggle, Haggle and Haggle ! You have the veto, be prepared to use it . 9 times out of 10 if you ask for a mac they will try to keep you .

If one CS rep will not deal wait a few days and ring early in the day or late at night , you may get a CS rep who needs to fill their quota on retentions !
