Help with laptop guartees needed

Hi > I purchased a laptop from a catalogue 2 months ago and within the first 2 weeks it developed a fault. I spoke to the catalogue who advised they could not help me and I should go to the manufacturers for help.
I phoned them the same day and they advised for the fault I had I should try a factory reset and if no joy call them back. I gave it 3 weeks and the same fault came back so the manufacturers advised me to send them the laptop to be fixed under warranty.
I have now had a bill from the for 164.00 with a letter stating that the fault on the laptop was caused by myself either dropping the laptop or putting extreme pressure on it which I know is not the case
Do I have any rights to fight this or do I have to pay up even though I believe they are trying to get out of the warranty?
