Job advice (Please help)

Hello,

I want to apply for this Job on universal Jobmatch in Rochdale however I am not sure what to do, could I get to rochdale on time before the work starts?

I am from burnley, Lancashire, North West. I have looked on google but it only says 33 mins from burnley to rochdale.

Is rochdale in Manchester? also If I get a interview and get the job, is the wage good? will I be able to afford rent? or could I still get housing benefit like I am doing now?

The Job is in this link: https://jobsearch.direct.gov.uk/GetJob.aspx?JobID=2936487&GoBackURL=http%3a%2f%2fjobsearch.direct.gov.uk%2fJobFile%2fJobFile.aspx

Hope for a reply, thank you.

Regards
Shaun

It says 33 mins in a car, do you drive? If so, of course you could get to Rochdale in time before work starts, just get up early enough to leave enough time to get there!! If you were going by public transport, you would need to check that it runs early enough to get you there for 7:30am.

No, Rochdale isn't in Manchester, its about 14 miles away.

Nobody can tell you whether the wage is good as there is no salary specified in the job ad. Again, without knowing how much your rent is and how much you would earn, we can' tell you whether you would be able to afford rent. Same for housing benefit, depends how much you would earn.

    Hi thanks for replying,

That's no good then as I can't drive and no idea what bus to get, thought it was in manchester as I could easly get the x43 (witch way bus)

My rent is £74.84 and I am in a 1 bedroom flat and I get the full housing benefit which is £74.84

Oh well just have to look at other jobs :(

Oh btw could I afford a taxi to rochdale? or would that be expensive?

A half hour journey in a taxi would be expensive, yes.

Have you tried a public transport planner? 'No idea what bus to get' is not a valid reason not to apply for a job. The correct response would be, 'No idea what bus to get, so I'll find out'.

As for wages, I would assume, based on the type of job, that it would be minimum wage or there abouts.

No, you can look up the bus times and see if there is one to get you there on time.

You're going to need to learn to use your initiative if you want to get on at work.

    Use this website:
    http://traveline.info
click on your area and put in start and finnish and it will tell you how long it takes, what bus(es) to catch or train, how much walking is required when you get off the bus etc etc. It's really useful.
