Praise for EU (and, grudgingly, government)

Options
At long last something is being done about companies using premium rate numbers for complaints and enquiries.

According to this article this is at the behest of the EU.

Amazingly, no UK politician has returned from Europe grinning like an idiot and proudly trumpeting that they have obtained a UK opt out from this directive.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

It is excellent news but it looks like the government are still going to charge premium rates for benefit claimants to access their services.

Still I expect the Daily Mail will sneer about EC interference costing British businesses money while conveniently ignoring the benefits to consumers.

Don't hold your breath. The 08xx gravy train is not stopping anytime soon. Not even for the EU.
