I'm sure there are pages of tips to answer my question. I have an HD to HD lead and I've plugged it into my laptop and into my HD TV but can't get the photo or video to appear on the TV that I have on my laptop screen. Is there a site that will give me an idiot's guide please?
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

You may have to enable the op you are using.
As googler asks - an HDMI lead? Or something else?0 -
Yes, HDMI male to HDMI male as my laptop has the same type of socket as the TV.0

As advised you need to alter the display and sound settings in Control Panel, then you should be good to go.0

Have you set the source on your tv? Mine doesn't always automatically go to the pc display when I plug the hdmi lead in, I've never had to reset anything on my laptop (unless I've been messing with the secondary display gubbins)0

I thought I had but I still can't get it to work so I'm waiting for my son to come and try this evening (one advantage of being old!!).0

You've plugged it into an HDMI port on the TV - it should be labelled, for example, HDMI 1 - set the TV input to that.
Computer - right click on the desktop and click properties, then the settings tab (I may be getting Windows versions mixed up but look around), you should be able to see 2 screens and detect them possibly, and set the resolution, and choose whether to mirror (same on both screens) or extend the desktop, if you graphics card supports it. Once you've got it working, it's just a screen, no matter what you're trying to display on it.0 -
Thanks everyone. My son resolved my problem for me. I was trying to plug into the TV's HDMI socket 3. He took the Virgin box cable out of HDMI 1 and plugged in here and it worked first time!
So can only assume socket 3 is not working on my TV.
Thanks again for all you advice.0
