How to stop tile animation on Windows phone?

Well it's my lucky day - I've just been given a Windows phone at work.
In general it's like someone gave an iPhone to some kids and told them to sketch up something that isn't exactly the same on a blackboard.
The phone is a Nokia Lumia 520 and it has an incredibly cheap feel to it, with a mains adapter that has a sliding Earth plug which for sure looks like it is going to break and the headset looks like it came off a market stall.
But anyway, all of that aside, it has a ridiculous tiled animation on its home screen. Could anybody advise me how to turn it off?

Thanks, I only had Angry Birds there, which I turned off.Euphoria1z wrote: »try the following

I'll probably keep the location settings as I'll likely use some sort of mapping/satnav app if there's a free one.0
